Scrapping a car in Vaughan, done right

Vaughan has plenty of scrapyards and towing outfits, especially around the Concord industrial area, but sorting out who pays what can take a day of phone calls. Some charge for the tow. Others quote one price and pay another. We keep it simple: one firm quote, a free tow and cash before we leave. It works the same whether your scrap car is a rusted minivan in Thornhill or an old work truck behind a Woodbridge shop. If it's past repair, it's worth more to you as cash than as a lawn ornament.

  • Paid, not charged

You don't pay us to haul your scrap car. We pay you, and the tow from anywhere in Vaughan is included in the deal.

  • A quote that holds

Describe the car honestly and the number stays put. No last-minute deductions for fuel, paperwork or a flat tire.

  • Trucks for tight spots

Underground garages, townhouse driveways and busy shop lots are everyday jobs in Vaughan. Tell us the access and we'll plan for it.

  • Proper disposal

Every scrap vehicle goes to a licensed Ontario recycler, never to a back lot or an unlicensed yard.

Scrap car removal in Vaughan: how it works

Four steps take your scrap car from the driveway to the recycler.

  1. Step 1: Get a scrap quote

Give us the year, make, model and what's wrong with it. Missing parts and damage are fine; just be upfront. Call (289) 349-2006 or use the form, and you'll have a firm price in about 3 minutes.

  2. Step 2: Book a time

Same-day pickups are usually available in Vaughan if you call before noon. Otherwise we'll set a slot that suits your schedule, including weekday evenings and Saturdays.

  3. Step 3: Meet the driver

The driver looks over the car and checks your ownership and ID, then you both sign the bill of sale. You're paid in cash on the spot, before anything is loaded.

  4. Step 4: Off to the recycler

The car is loaded and taken to a licensed Ontario recycler. There it's drained, dismantled and shredded, and the metal goes back into use in new products.

Inside the recycling yard: what happens to your scrap car

A scrap car isn't just crushed and forgotten. Licensed recyclers follow a careful order:

  • Draining: fuel, motor oil, transmission fluid, coolant, brake fluid and refrigerant are pumped out and stored safely.
  • Removing hazards: the battery, tires and catalytic converter are separated so they can be recycled or processed on their own.
  • Saving parts: engines, alternators, doors, mirrors and lights in good shape are cleaned up and sold for reuse.
  • Shredding: what's left is flattened, shredded and sorted by magnets and other machines into steel, aluminum and copper.

Around 75–80% of a typical vehicle by weight can be recycled, which means a lot of steel kept out of landfill from a car that was only taking up a parking spot. Read our full guide on how car recycling works.

How to get the most for your car

  • Don't pull parts off before pickup; it lowers your price.
  • Tell us if it's a van, truck or diesel, since heavier vehicles earn more.
  • Show us any written scrap quote you've received; we’ll beat any written offer.

Before your scrap car leaves: documents, plates and prep

Papers to have ready

Have your ownership (vehicle permit) and government photo ID on hand, plus any keys. No safety certificate is needed to scrap a car in Ontario. If the car is in someone else's name, call us first to talk through what's needed.

Your licence plates

Remove your licence plates before we tow the car. In Ontario, plates belong to you, not the vehicle, so you can keep them for your next car or return them to ServiceOntario. Our guide covers what to do with your plates.

Clean it out

Empty the glovebox, console, trunk and door pockets. Take out parking passes and garage remotes. If there's a 407 ETR transponder on the windshield, remove it so you can use it in your next car.

Clear the way

Move other cars so our truck can reach the scrap car. In an underground garage, check the posted height limit and tell us. In a Concord shop yard, clear a path past pallets and equipment.

After the sale

Keep your copy of the bill of sale, and call your insurance company to cancel or move your coverage. The bill of sale is your record of the date the car stopped being yours.

Vaughan scrap car questions

Still have a question? Call (289) 349-2006 and ask a real person.

Is there a fee for scrap car removal in Vaughan?

No. Scrap car removal is free anywhere in Vaughan, and you get paid on top of that. Your quote already covers the tow, so nothing is deducted when the driver arrives.

How do you work out a scrap price?

We start with the vehicle's weight and this month's metal rates, then add value for parts like the catalytic converter, engine and transmission. Missing parts bring it down. The result is a firm quote you can accept or decline. Our guide to what a scrap car is worth explains it in more detail.

Can you collect a car from a body shop or tow yard?

Yes. If your car is sitting at a collision centre or towing yard in Vaughan after a crash, we can pick it up there. Tell us where it is and give the shop a heads-up. Any storage fees owed to that yard need to be settled first. We also buy damaged and written-off cars as they are.

Will you take a car without wheels?

Yes. We use a winch and wheel dollies to load cars with missing wheels or flat tires. Let us know when you book so the driver brings the right gear and the pickup stays quick.

Can I keep some parts before you scrap it?

You can, but it lowers your price, because we pay for the whole car. Personal add-ons like a dash cam or phone mount are fine to remove. Tell us what you're keeping when you call.

How long does a scrap pickup take?

Usually 20 to 30 minutes from the time the driver arrives. Underground garages, or a car with seized wheels, can add a little more time.

Do you buy scrap cars that were in a flood?

Yes. Cars flooded in an underground garage or a summer storm are usually written off, but the steel and many parts still have value. Tell us how high the water reached and how long it sat, so we can price it accurately.

Do I need to be home for a scrap pickup?

Yes, or someone you've authorized in writing. They'll show the ownership, sign the bill of sale and take the cash. If the car is in a condo garage, they'll also need to let the driver in and show the way.

Do you scrap cars from Thornhill and Kleinburg too?

Yes. We cover every Vaughan community, including Thornhill, Kleinburg, Maple, Woodbridge and Concord. The tow is free wherever you are in the city, and the price is the same.
