Scrap cars in a growing farm community
Binbrook's scrap vehicles come from two very different places. In town, it's often a family car that has covered huge distances on Highway 56 and the Linc, until a failed transmission or a rusted subframe makes it not worth fixing. Out in the Glanbrook countryside, it's the truck or car that was parked behind a barn when it quit, and has been slowly settling into the grass ever since.
Both have scrap value. The steel, aluminum and copper inside a vehicle are worth money, and so are parts like the catalytic converter, engine and wheels. The sooner you scrap it, the more complete it usually is, and the more you'll be paid.
Signs it's time to scrap your vehicle
If two or more of these sound familiar, scrap is probably your best move.
- Repairs cost more than it's worth The estimate is higher than the car would sell for after the work is done.
- Structural rust Rust has eaten into the frame, subframe or floor pans.
- Major mechanical failure The engine or transmission has failed and replacing it doesn't add up.
- A long safety list The inspection turned up more problems than the car is worth fixing.
- Parked for a year or longer Seized brakes, flat tires and rodent damage are setting in.
- Insurance write-off Your insurer declared it a total loss after a crash or a flood.
- Stripped for parts Pieces have been taken off and it will never run again.
- Already replaced There's a newer vehicle in the driveway and this one just sits.
Scrap car removal in Binbrook: how it works
Four steps from phone call to cash.
-
Step 1: Call for a scrap price
Phone (289) 349-2006 or fill in the form with the year, make and model. Tell us whether it's complete and where it sits. You'll get a firm offer in about 3 minutes, based on weight, parts and current metal rates.
-
Step 2: Prepare the vehicle
Clear out personal belongings and take off the licence plates. Find the ownership and your photo ID. If the car is in a barn or field, make sure there's a clear route for the truck and the winch cable.
-
Step 3: Free tow and payment
Our driver checks the car, you sign the bill of sale and you're paid cash on the spot. Then the car is winched aboard. Flat tires, seized brakes and missing keys don't slow us down much.
-
Step 4: Responsible recycling
The car goes to a licensed Ontario recycler. Fluids are drained, reusable parts are pulled and the metal is shredded for recycling. Keep your copy of the bill of sale as your record of the sale date.
Scrap car prices in Binbrook
Most scrap vehicles in Binbrook bring $300 to $2,000. Our minimums are $300 for a sedan, coupe or hatchback, $500 for an SUV or minivan and $500 for a pickup. See our guide to scrap car value for more.
What sets the price
- Vehicle weight
- The heavier the vehicle, the more steel, and the higher the offer.
- Metal prices this month
- Scrap rates rise and fall, and our quotes are based on current numbers.
- Converter and key parts
- An original catalytic converter, engine and transmission add value.
- Condition of the shell
- A complete body with its panels and glass is worth more than a stripped one.
- Truck or car
- Pickups and vans typically pay more than compact cars because of their size.
- Demand for its parts
- Family vehicles with parts in steady demand usually fetch a little more.
- Sedan, coupe or hatchback
- from $300
- SUV or minivan
- from $500
- Pickup truck
- from $500
- Running used car
- up to $10,000
Prices depend on current scrap metal rates and can change month to month.
How to get the most for your car
- Don't sell the converter or battery separately; you'll usually lose money overall.
- Mention newer tires or a recent battery when you call.
- Have the ownership found before pickup day.
What happens at the recycler
Once your car leaves Binbrook, it's processed at a licensed Ontario recycler in a careful order. Fluids come out first, so nothing leaks during handling: oil, coolant, brake and transmission fluid, fuel and air-conditioning refrigerant. The battery and catalytic converter are removed next and sent for specialized recycling.
After that, parts with life left in them, like engines, alternators, doors and wheels, are pulled and sold for reuse. What remains is crushed, shredded and sorted by metal type. Around 75–80% of a typical vehicle by weight can be recycled. For the full picture, read how car recycling works or see our auto recycling page.
Plates, papers and prep for scrap pickup
Getting these sorted before the driver arrives keeps the visit short.
Ownership and ID
You'll need the ownership (vehicle permit) and photo ID. On older farm vehicles, the permit may be tucked away in a farmhouse drawer or a filing box. If you can't find it, call us before visiting ServiceOntario. Our guide to selling without ownership can help.
Your licence plates
Remove the plates before the tow. In Ontario, plates belong to you, not the vehicle. Hang on to them for your next car or truck, or return them to ServiceOntario; returning them doesn't come with a refund. See what to do with your plates.
Clear the route
Make sure the truck can get within reach of the car. On a farm, that may mean opening a gate, moving equipment or waiting for a muddy lane to dry. In a subdivision, move other vehicles off the driveway so the car can be pulled straight out.
No repairs or safety needed
A scrap car doesn't need a safety certificate in Ontario, and there's no reason to fix anything first. Leave it as it is, including the battery, wheels and converter, since they all add to your offer. A car that failed its safety check is worth the same to us as scrap.

Binbrook scrap car FAQs
Still have a question? Call (289) 349-2006 and ask a real person.
What's the minimum you pay for a scrap truck in Binbrook?
Our minimum for a complete scrap pickup truck is $500. For SUVs and minivans it's $500, and for sedans, coupes and hatchbacks it's $300. Most vehicles come in above the minimum, depending on weight and parts.
Do you pay more for a heavier vehicle?
Usually, yes. Scrap value is driven largely by weight, so a full-size pickup or van typically earns more than a compact car. Current metal prices and valuable parts matter too.
Can you scrap a car with no wheels?
Yes. A car on blocks or without wheels can still be loaded. Tell us when you call so the driver brings the right equipment. Missing wheels lower the offer slightly but don't stop the sale.
Can you scrap a car that has sunk into the ground?
In most cases. Cars that have sat in a field for years can settle into the soil. Our winch can usually free them. If the ground is very soft, we may suggest waiting for drier weather.
Do I need to be there for a scrap pickup?
Yes, or someone you've authorized. The person meeting the driver signs the bill of sale and receives the cash. The visit usually takes 20–30 minutes from start to finish. An evening or Saturday slot works well for commuters.
Can I scrap a vehicle registered to my farm business?
Yes, with the right authority. Bring a signed letter from the business allowing the sale, along with the ownership. Call us first and we'll confirm exactly what's needed. If the farm belonged to a family member who has passed away, the estate's executor usually signs instead.
Is there a charge if the car is hard to reach?
No. Towing is free in Binbrook, however tricky the access. We just need to know about it in advance so we can bring the right truck and plan enough time.
Do you collect scrap cars in Mount Hope and Hannon?
Yes. Mount Hope, Hannon and the rest of Glanbrook are inside our free towing area. Highway 6 gets us to the Mount Hope side quickly, and same-day scrap pickups are often possible if you call before noon.
